Gibson McKay

Gib McKayGibson McKay is a nationally recognized and award winning public affairs consultant.

Gib, as he is known, brings to his clients two decades of experience, insight and know-how as a public relations strategist, creative director/producer, lobbyist, campaign consultant and writer.

Before starting Sherpa Public Affairs, he was a founding director of one of Arizona’s most prestigious government relations firms, Veridus. He was also instrumental in directing the public affairs division of HighGround Inc.

Gib has managed more than 30 statewide and local initiatives, referenda and candidate campaigns. His work includes message development, public opinion surveys, advertising and other communication production as well as overseeing the execution of general communication and campaign strategies.

Early in his career, he worked as a legislative aide to U.S. Sen. John McCain, splitting his time between McCain’s Arizona and Washington offices. More recently, he served McCain’s 2008 presidential bid as his “whip” to the Republican National Gib McKayConvention.

In addition, McKay has served as the Chief of Staff to Maricopa County and Director of Government Relations for the Maricopa Integrated Health System. Gib also worked as Deputy Director of the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona. He helped set up the Communications Division for the newly formed Arizona Department of Gaming and was pivotal in enforcing the State’s Arizona’s Indian gaming compacts.

Gibson McKay is a fourth generation Arizonan and a graduate of Northern Arizona University. He and his wife, Rebecca, have three sons and live in Phoenix.
